Work
My work is about how cutting edge technology enables creative communities to connect deeply with history and culture.
For the past decade, I’ve been focused on how technology education and opportunity can be made accessible to everyone, especially software engineers in historically underrepresented communities:
- I work at Stack Overflow and lead engineering for their core Q&A product. Stack Overflow is the world’s largest online community of software developers with over 100M visitors every month. I joined as a self-taught, entry-level developer in 2013 during its early startup days, became a Principal Engineer in 5 years, and now serve as Director of Engineering leading A.I. product development after its $1.8B acquisition by Prosus.
- I founded Out in Tech U, the youth mentorship arm of Out in Tech, the world’s largest non-profit centered on LGBTQ+ people tech with over 40K members in 32 cities worldwide. Since I started OITU in 2016, the program has connected over 750 queer youth with working professionals at companies like Microsoft, Google, and Uber.
Recently I’ve been focused on how artificial intelligence can enrich people’s existing relationships through in-person experiences.
